I'd like to share a poem that was written by the man himself shortly after his 16th birthday which to me shows his mind being tainted by depression andĭepression only. Like free will to you? I'll say it again: 'You be the judge.' You just take life as it's thrown at you, do what others tell you to do, feel however others want you to feel. Reality to such an extent that you don't know what to believe anymore. Most people don't know what it feels like to be disconnected from Simple indeed yet the effectiveness of these phrases are questionable to say the least but I'll leave that up to you to judge. 'Cherish life, never give up, live for freedom.' Having a lack of fear though is an endangerment to oneself and to others,ĭon't you think? Now, you may be asking yourself who I am and I promise that I will tell you in good time but first some words of encouragement. It's what keeps you going, pushing you to your limits. The very last line of the song isn’t so much sung as it is said. The night is the worst part of depression, but they’re saying that you can make it through the darkness. Woah.)” The chorus is saying that even when you feel like you’re all alone, you’re not. ![]() Woah), You can make it to the sunrise, (Woah. ![]() The chorus goes, “When the night is cold and you feel like no-one knows, what it's like to be the only one buried in this hole, You can make it to the sunrise. And, when it says “want a way out of this paralyzing world”, it’s referring to committing suicide because the reality is just too much to handle. Depression makes you feel like you’re stuck inside of a cloud and you can’t get out. The first few lines of the song say, “Full of despair inside a darkness, Self-conscious and scared, held prisoner of war, Running out of air, buried in a sadness, Want a way out of this paralyzing world”, are describing a person suffering from depression. It’s more of a song of hope for the people that suffer from depression, and turn to music as their outlet. The song “Sunrise” isn’t a song that’s based solely on depression. The band says a lot of the lyrics for sunrise were based on a documentary called “Bully”. Their song “Sunrise” was released on their album Oak Island in 2014. Our Last Night is an American post-hardcore band that was formed in 2004 by two brothers, Trevor and Matthew Wentworth. People, who seem to exude love, as naturally as the sun gives out heat.)
